Student Clubs

Armstrong School for the Arts offers many extracurricular clubs for students to become a part of. 



Clubs at Armstrong

Drama Club

The drama club is sponsored by Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Szukelewicz and is open to students in grades fourth and fifth. Students in the drama club perform in the annual spring musical.

K-Kids is a "student-led" community-service organization for elementary students grades 1 through 5, which operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. It is sponsored by Old Point Comfort Kiwanis Club, composed of leading business and professional people of the community.


Chess Club

Chess club is sponsored by Mrs. Dianna. Chess club provides students with the ability to work on strategic thinking, among other skills. The chess club is open to students in fourth and fifth grade. Students will begin meeting in January.


The READ club is sponsored by Mrs. Paxton. Mrs. Paxton and various members of the community work with students to improve reading skills. Students are welcomed to READ by invitation only.

Principals Advisory Committee

The Student Advisory Committee is sponsored by Ms. Stovall. This club consists of SCA officers as well as fourth and fifth graders that ran for the SCA. Students meet with Ms. Stovall once a month to discuss issues that are important to the whole student body.


Chorus is offered to all fifth grade students at Armstrong. Chorus students perform in at least two concerts a year and are given opportunities to perform in the spring musical; honors chorus; and solo performances throughout the year. Chorus is sponsored by Mrs. Thompson.





FRG is a family readinesss group for active duty, retired, and reservist children.  It helps foster a sense of belonging to a military community and a forum in which the children can discuss and learn about the importance of service to our country.  F.R.G is sponsered by Mrs. McKinney.
